I just installed a pair of these (Sensa-Trac, part no. 5978). These are the replacements for the non-Nivomat shocks. The OE shocks were badly worn, so the Monroe's are a big improvement, without feeling harsh. No more pitching and shuddering after a bump at speed. Front struts are the next project.
Removal of the old shocks and installation of the new is simple, as others have noted. The bolts holding the shocks are large, torqued tight, and probably corroded somewhat, so eat your Wheaties. The lower one on the trailing arm is accessed from toward the car centre, so you need the car fairly well up in the air for leverage (safety! - use jackstands), and a hefty breaker bar and 17mm socket. For the upper, remove the rubber body plug, and for good leverage, about 12+ inches of 1/2 inch extensions on the 17mm socket so the breaker bar is outside the wheel well. You can use air tools for bolt removal, but to properly torque (63 ft-lb) when reinstalling you need room for the leverage.
