1991 240 wagon (as of last night, sporting a used 1994 940 transmission!!working excellently!!)

When I begin to depress the accelerator pedal ever so slightly at idle or at any speed, I get a very short hiss coming from what seems to be the heat and A/C controls area behind the center console. Then the hiss goes away quickly. Has anyone run into that before?
