I already posted this to the RWD forum by mistake - please excuse the repetition.


I need a new windshield installed into a 1990 240. Of course I want to can the metal trim and have a 1991+ windshield installed. I've had the newer style windshields installed in older models before, but that has been on my own dime. This time it is an insurance claim and the installer will not agree to install the newer style in my '90. He is acting as if it would be some manner of insurance fraud for him to do so.

On the Brickboard I've read that all the replacement windshields now come with the rubber trim in place which has to be removed in order to use the God-forsaken metal trim.

Does anyone know if there is a Volvo Service Bulletin which addresses using the rubber trimmed windshield in a pre-1991 240? Perhaps I can change his mind with some documentation from Volvo.
