245 is alive! 200 1988

My long suffering 245 is up and running. The problems described here and here traced to a bad AMM. I got a used one on eBay for $40 and now the engine runs great. Thanks to all who pointed me in the right direction with that.

I did have to buy a new battery because the old one croaked from sitting over the winter. The car starts beautifully and runs great, except for that noise in engine compartment that I can't quite trace.

The other thing I did was bleed the brakes. The rear brake circuit had a bunch of dirt and some serious air bubbles. Took me a bit of fluid to flush it, but it brakes great now. I'm not sure how it got so low on fluid without an obvious leak, though.

There are two things I am planning on in short order. I had a couple of episodes where the temp climbed to the low end of red and I had to turn on the heater to get it back down, but it does not do this 98% of the time. I figure thermostat sticks. The other thing is dash lighting. One of the bulbs is out again, so I'm thinking of picking up a set of LEDs to put in there. Any caveats regarding that would be appreciated.

The timing to get this working was perfect - my wife is driving the 745 because her car had some engine trouble.
