New steering wheel to close to dash 200 1989

Hi there!
I recently purchased on e-bay the nice woodden wheel you see in the pic below
It supposedly came of a 260 series volvo according to seller

I installed it in my 89 244, looks great but... it's to close to the dash so when I'm manouvering I always end up hooking the turnsignal or wiper stalks behind it....
Is there a way to move the wheel forward or bend the stalks slightly so not to have this inconvenience anymore?
