Leak After Front Crank Seal Replacement 200 1981

My problem is the crank seal seems to seep oil any time the engine is running. It is enough to make the bottom of the engine and cross member oily even after repeated washings at the car wash. I would guess it looses half a quart between oil changes. I replaced all seals a while back. I used various PVC fittings to tap in the seals. I also smeared RTV around the outside of the seals and checked the shafts for groves.
