factory 240 1989 radio connectors- green book anyone? 200

Hello, I bought 1989 240 radio from forum member to install on my 86 240GL which came without one. I have 9-pin plug on the car side which fits description below found on the board (thanks Bob!)

However the radio has more wires and different colors. I connected red to #2, black to #9(in notation below), and if I connect stripped blue and blue on the radio side to left or right side on the factory plug I get the sound from both sides, but I could not find the other two to get both speakers working at the same time.

Also, how the radio control knob works? It seems to have balance function in addition to on/off and volume control, but I could not make it work..

Thanks!
Serge

message I found which fit description of the plug on my 86 240GL

Are they all in the factory 9-pin plug? I can help there, not otherwise.

On the car side of the connection:

Top row, right end, is #1

#1 -- green -- Fuse #8
#2 -- black -- Fuse #1
#3 -- red ---- Power antenna, or turns on amp.

#4 -- Y-Wh --- Left front plus
#5 -- Gray-Wh- Right front plus
#6 -- Not connected (according to Volvo book chart)

#7 -- White -- Front left, ground
#8 -- Gray --- Front right, ground
#9 -- Black -- Ground connection

The rear speakers in a factory installation are powered by an amp. It is driven by a DIN jacked cord, and the fader on the radio will control.

Good Luck,

Bob
