1st attempt at A/C repair! 900 1994

Hi All
As it is certain to get hot in CT one of these days I have decided to attempt A/C repair on one or perhaps both 940's. The 92 holds a charge for maybe two weeks and the 94 hold it for maybe two days. I am gonna go to Auto zone at lunch and get a can of freon and a can of dye. Assuming I am able to locate a leak I will replace said leaking part...sounds too easy! Should I be replacing or cleaning the orifice tube as maintenance? I dont know squat about a/c so any advise is appreciated.
