Water leak aftermath and some misc stuff... long.... 700 1987

Hi,

I located the water leak points on my sedan - at least I think I did - and it seems that the majority of the water was coming from a leak in the channel underneath the rear window. There's a rusty hole at the bottom of it, and I suspect that there is a break in the sheet metal welds (that make up the channel) near the passenger side rear window pillar.

The cushioning/insulating material under the carpet on the passenger side is very damp. I have pulled up as much as I could (I even tried to remove the front seat, but all that seat heater wiring was like a knot and I had to leave it), and right now the car is just sitting.

What's the best thing to do? The carpet is kinda funky, but not really so bad that I want to replace it. A good steam cleaning would get the carpets looking good - provided the leak has stopped. I'm off in search of another Damp-rid bag, that stuff is great!

Ari

While I was in the trunk, I discovered that my spare tire is the one made in Sweden, and I did a little dance.
