To boldly (or stupidly) go where no man has gone before...I think- A/C conversion wiring question 200

I've been in the process of swapping my '82 245 project car's A/C system with a '92 244's A/C system. I've already taken the dash out and the heater/cooling

unit out from the '92 and have it installed into my '82. Now for the fun part-wiring. I've been using the Bentley manual since after trying to use the Haynes

I found that their wiring diagrams stop at the '83 models. Note: this '82 245 has been a project car as many of you probably know with the electrical system

from an '84 therefore I cannot use the Haynes. I'll try not to make this too confusing being that we'll be dealing with 2 different diagrams for the

different model years. I'll start by going to the Bentley wiring diagram for the '84 wiring diagram on page 390-23. (Note: WD means wiring diagram) The

first thing I did was removed the switch on the dash (from the '92) with the wiring that also connects to the A/C delay relay(#129 on the '84 WD). The

problem that I'm having at this point is locating item# 31/6. Item #31 on the description is instrument connectation M4. But there's not an illustration of

how this happens. From what I've figured by comparing the 2 WD's is that the red wire from the relay has to go to the ECU. I'm guessing that the path that

it takes to get to the ECU is going through one of the instruments circuitry somehow because I tried checking continuity from the ECU plug at terminal #16

per the WD and both of the red wires that are still present from the old switch but there's none. Does anyone here have any experience with this or any

ideas that can help? Thanks in advance. Charles
