Seeking opinions on A/C replacement parts 700 1991

Guys,

Right now FCP has a 10% off sale (so does IPD) and I happen to have a $250 credit at FCP to use up. (before they forget). Anyway, the A/C in my '91 non-turbo automatic B230F doesn't work anymore. It was retrofitted at the local Volvo dealer in 2001 and the receiver/dryer has that blue-green sticker on top indicating it was done. The previous owner, my father, complained it never really blew very cold after that. I do have the work order sheet but it only says the Volvo kit was used, and doesn't indicate whether anythning else was replaced, like the condenser or evaporator for example. By now, probably all the R134a is gone. It sat last winter, but it wasn't working before then anyway. Oh, another shop before the a/c was retrofitted noted on another work order that they foudn the evaporator to be leaking.

Ok, so I'm considering using my fcp-groton credit to get some air conditioning parts. Should I buy a new evaporator, condenser and anything else from them, or strictly stick with OEM Volvo? They do carry a Seltec compressor I could get - I wonder if they are any good.

Yes I know the evaporator is a nightmare job. Might as well do the heater core at the same time, even though it doesn't appear to be giving any problems.

I can put some pictures up on here, and will look att the car some more to add more details, maybe that will help with the discussion. I'm at work now, but can do that later on.

Thanks in advance for any tips you may have.
