metal ring washer on front strut..where does it go? 700

There is a metal ring washer which fits on the upper part of the front strut mounting area ..it is a ring like washer that could be worn as a ring . not to be confused with the larger conical metal washwer which fits under the rubber recess of the strut mount...where does this ring-like washer go.....I know i goofed up.....cheers
