So my '92 740 (non-turbo) wagon starts hard and runs rough anytime it sits for more than an hour, at any temp. It will die if I don’t give it gas. After about 30 seconds it becomes normal and I smell a little gas like its running too rich. This happened last year and then the head gasket blew. Right before that I change out some vacuum hoses and when the gasket blew, I replaced the gaskets and had it machined. It stopped for awhile after that but it is now doing it worse than ever. If I try to drive when its running rough, my car has no power and sputters. Honestly, I have no mechanic background other than getting a kick out of taking my car apart and replacing stuff. I am however a volvo fanatic and love this car. I would enjoy fixing this issue myself but don’t even know where to go next. Thought it might be a vacuum issue but replacing the hoses only helped for a day. Would appreciate any helpful info. Thanks.
