Hi all,

I need some advice on troubleshooting a clutch problem with our 1990 745T.

Some background:

About two weeks ago it had to be towed to the dealer after I stepped on the clutch and it went right to the floor with no resistance. Dealer replaced master and slave cylinders.

The clutch went out again (same problem!) after an approximately 250 mile trip from central PA to NYC (it went out in the approach lane to the Lincoln Tunnel during rush hour :( ). We had to tow it to a local (i.e., New Jersey) shop since it happened the Thursday evening before the July 4th holiday and none of the service shops at the Volvo dealers were open on Friday, and we were leaving for a week-long trip out of town (we were flying and didn't need the car).

So, local guy decides that the slave cylinder is bad and replaces it (I told him it already had been replaced, but that's another story), and pronounces it fixed.

Guess what? Today, near the end of the return trip to PA (about the same distance), the clutch goes out again.

This is really beginning to undermine my trust in this car.

What is wrong if the master and slave cylinders have been replaced?
