Door latch - suggestions needed 200 1990

The rear door latch is acting up. It always opens when needed, but sometimes when closing it hits the latch and bouncesback instead of latching. Thenthe latch has to be pulled open manually. My daughter drives it so I am repeating what she told me.

Any suggestions as to what to look for or do?
