Any K-Jet Guru's out there that know the differences between Bosch fuel pressure regulator designs?
I'm resurrecting a 1981 240 sedan with K-Jet CIS fuel injection. It has a Bosch pressure regulator mounted on the side of the block that is connected to the fuel distributor. The regulator has 2 vacuum lines coming off the bottom of it that go to a temp/vacuum sensor in the head (not sure if this is the right terminology). At the top of the regulator is a little pipe that has a "J" shaped rubber tube coming off of it that presumably vents any pressure that might build up inside the regulator.
Anyway, I needed to replace this regulator because the inlet and outlet screens were rusted and clogged. I got a regulator from the wrecking yard but it is somewhat different in design (they didn't have one that matched precisely). The new regulator had no vacuum connections at the base of it and no pipe outlet with a "J" rubber hose to vent. So I pulled the vacuum plate with the 2 vacuum line connectors off of the old regulator and attached it to the replacement regulator. The only difference now is that there is no vent/pipe on the top of the modified regulator.
My question is, will this modification without the vent pipe work or do I need to have the vent pipe in there if I'm using a regulator with vacuum line connections?
