M40/M41 Swap 140-160 1973

I'm swapping the M40 in my '73 142 with a M41 out of a '74 140. I need a new flange on the output shaft of the M41. Tried the flange from the '73 but it is for a 26 tooth spline. The spline on the M41 is 25 teeth. The M40 spline is also about 1mm larger. Nobody has ever run across this that I've talked to. Is the output shaft from an 1973 M40 different than a 1974 M41? Need help!
