1993 940 Turbo B230FT.
I acquired this car 1 year ago and the first thing I noticed was how much louder it was than any other Volvo I've owned or driven. At the time, I had an identical car, a '93 940 Turbo wagon that was noticeably quieter.
I had this noisy car inspected by a Volvo shop and they found nothing wrong with the exhaust, including the exhaust manifold. Physically, it looked in great shape and it was only 2 years old. It was however an aftermarket Walker system, which many of us here don't think too highly of. I assumed that the Walker mufflers were just plain loud so I bit the bullet and ordered a factory Volvo Cat back system from Tasca.
I replaced everything from the cat back yesterday with the new Volvo stuff and the car is even louder than before.
This is not a quiet car by any means. It has a low burble at idle and there is a low resonant drone at all other engine speeds.
Any ideas?
