Is It Normal For Radiator Hoses To Be Too Hot To Touch? 700 1992

My 1992 740 blew a radiator last fall so I basically gutted the cooling system. New radiator, hoses, belt, water pump, harmonic balancer, thermostat, timing belt, changed over to the GM orange type cooling fluid, etc. It took me from October to April to get all this work done. I drove the car a little bit this spring and it seemed OK. I went to Europe and came home to Miami a few weeks back and started driving the car. I noticed right off that the radiator hoses seem very hot. I mean so hot to the touch that the hand cannot be there for long. This is after 3 or so miles of driving in Miami traffic. Is this normal? I'm just worried I am headed for another coolant failure.
