M47 Shifter bushings still on my mind 200 1989

Was I one part short of a homerun? About 1.5 years ago I replaced the Bushings and the Two Pins that connect my Shifter to my M47 trani. It tightened up the ‘Play’ in the shifter conciderably. I was happy. But the more I think about it the more I am wondering if I just replaced that Heavier Barrel shaped piece that joins the Link to the tail end of the Trani, would that have really taken the ‘Play’ out? Would that big barrel piece wear? Is it possible the Rod from the Trani is worn? From under the car the other day I was moving the shifter side to side while it was in Gear and all the play is between the Trani rod and that large barrel. For those who have done this repair, Did you replace that Barrel that gets the two pins through it followed by the Springy Keeper?
An added note, The holes in the Link and the rod exiting the Trani fit the Pins snug, not oval at all.
