Humming noise when I start car in the morning 900 1996

I have a 1996 960 and every day when I start the car, I hear a humming noise start up and stay for approximately 30 seconds. It then goes away, but as it goes away, the pitch goes down, as though it's something spinning down. Then I drive approximately 15 minutes to work, and the first time I stop off the interstate, it starts back up again and then goes away as soon as I accelerate. Does anyone have any idea what that could be?
