88' 240 DL (non turbo) intermittent won't axcel past 1500 from a stop 200 1988

Hey guys I am new to the board and I am hoping for information from anyone who is familiar with my problem. For the past few months my car has periodically remained in first gear not accelerating past 1500 from a stop. If the gas is pressed harder you can hear the engine note get deeper, so the throttle plate is opening. The fuel filter, cap rotor plugs and wires have all been replaced with no change. Any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated.
