Tips for buying a turbo 240? 200

My son, currently driving our 1990 240, is interested in getting a 240 Turbo. Are there any years to watch, or watch out, for? He's currently about to look at a 1984--any issues with that year? I was trying to recall the years with the infamous rotting wiring harnesses--were those 1985 and 1986, or did it extend to the 1984 model?

I'm pretty used to working on 240s, having owned three. But I have no experience with turbos. Anything in particular to watch for? What's typical life on one, and are they hard to get rebuilt? I remember seeing turbo parts years ago in the IPD catalog, but I see nothing now.
