M47 Trani and Junkyards 200

Any of you that have follow some of my latest posts know that I'm playing with Dropping the M47 and opening the top cover to replace what appears to be a broken spring on the Shifter Plate. The Shifter does not spring back to it's default position when I'm in Neutral.
I drove i a 60 mile radius of my hoe and hit every Junkyard I could find in hopes to get a "Bad" trani to just open up and play with. NG!
The comments from the junkyards were basically. ' The manuals never go bad, we don't have any of those.. mostly have 200's with automatics.
My hopes were that if I could have gotten a bad trani, I could have popped the top and not only learned what Springs were going to jump out at me before doing it on my trani but I was hoping that maybe I could have swiped the Selector Plate from that one. Apparently my broken spring is a fluke so using one from a Junkie should give me long life.
Question: The front seal, the one on the shifting rod, can that be replaced without taking off that rear cover?
Does anyone want to clean an old rusted M47 from their garage? I live on Long Island ( N.Y.) The M46 Shifter Plate is different.
