The wiring on the 95 960 sedan has become a big problem. What was initially a rear ds window that failed to go down, turned out to be caused by multiple melted wiring insulation in the boot to the drivers door, boot to the rear ds door, and at the on/of switch and rear ds master control. The fuse was super hot to the touch, and there was burning smell and smoke in the car.
I was able to patch the wires, but it did not get the window working. I also replaced three switches: ds rear door master, on/off, and rear drivers door, still no luck. So I finally submitted the whole thing to my insurer, who has agreed to cover it without a deductible or premium increase as fire is a listed hazard. But insurance only covers the cause, not the effect, so I need to help guide this a bit.
I want to give the electrical shop a few ideas, and would appreciate the boards thoughts. What should I be sure they check and do here?
I want them to disconnect the negative battery terminal before checking the drivers seat wiring and ground to prevent air bad deploy. Plus, it may be that the auto down relay is the cause. Anything else that could cause this and should be checked? Thoughts appreciated here as I want to find the root cause while the electrical shop has it.
