Hello all,
In my previous thread (click for link) I reported issues with performance at anything more than 3/4 throttle after the vehicle had warmed up. After replacing a few components with no change (RS relay, FPR, vacuum lines, air filter, AMM) I decided to revisit the main fuel pump I had replaced a few months prior.
The original pump gave up at about 165k, and as I needed the car immediately and didn't want to pay stealer prices I opted for the Kragen replacement. It was a Carter pump, fit perfectly, and when I replaced it it worked perfectly and got me back on the road. I ignored it as a possible source of this new problem because it was new, and because it apparently worked fine upon install.
However, I pulled a pump off a junked 740 and did the swap so I could eliminate the pump as the cause and...it now runs fine. Problem solved...IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP!!!
Thanks for your help and suggestions. Now please pray that I pass smog here in CA...
