'93 940T Water pump mushroom gasket failure 900 1993

We were 90 miles from home this afternoon when we noticed coolant on the ground. Mushroom gasket had failed and drained fluid from reservoir as it was added. I bought 4 gal of pre-mixed coolant and headed for home. I turned off the A/C, only drove 60 mph and was as gentle on the accelerator as possible. The temp needle didn't get above mid-range. I stopped at 10 miles and opened the hood but the engine seemed ok. There wasn't a load of heat radiating from it, so I continued the rest of the way home with an eye on the temp gauge. Opened the hood when I got home and added 1 gallon of water to make sure the system had as much fluid as possible (most of it just went out the gasket opening). I can't believe I made it home without the temp gauge rising into the hot range. The thought did occur to me that maybe there wasn't any fluid around the temp gauge sensor but I figured that even then the temp would get high enough to raise the gauge or at least make it fluctuate. Is there anything I can check to see if I did any damage to the engine or turbo?
