Reverse light not working (85 245) 200 1985

I tried to do a search for it, but couldn't find it easily.

I have a manual, and I think the switch for the reverse light is not working (or broken). I know it's not the lights, because I've tested those (and switched them a couple times).

The Bentley (and what I've seen online) suggests it's on the left side of the transmission on the top. I took off the gear-shift boot tonight to try to see if I could see anything. With the aid of a mirror on an extension, I couldn't tell what I saw.

There does seem to be something that a yellow wire goes to, on the left side of the transmission. However, it's not on the top like Bentley (and online) suggests.

Does anyone have a picture of where the switch for the backup lights is? Can you access it semi-easily from beneath, if the car is lifted? I know that the book says you need to/have to lower the transmission, but I'm not looking forward to that.

Which wire(s) should I be looking for, from the gearshift, to follow down to the switch itself?

thanks again. Sorry if this is a thread that is talking about an already discussed topic.
