Installing an overdrive tranny vs. changing the rear end in a PV444? 444-544

I want to upgrade my 1956 PV444, which I've now converted to a B20 motor, 4sp tranny, 12 volt system. My question is whether to install an overdrive, or updrade the rear axle, and I was wondering if one option is better than the other, and is there any benefit to doing both? This topic may have been covered before, but I couldn't find a direct comparison of the two options.
