starter noise 900 1993

My 93 940 turbo (300kmiles, all original) has developed a noisey starter or solenoid. The noise occurs on most starts, hot or cold, but not all. It sounds like a combo squeak and rattle and lasts for only a couple seconds, then it disappears. Everything else is working fine. Thoughts, recommendations?

I recently passed the car on to my son, age 18, after many years of using it as my daily driver. In my humble view the 940 turbo is the best all around volvo ever...
