240 fuel sender ball 200 1989

Have fuel system apart for rehab, hoping new pumps/filters/FPR will cure severe hesitation the project 1989 245 recently developed. FPR and pumps appear original, and no mention of replacement in the extensive service records from prior owners, so they're certainly due.

I lost the float ball removing the sending unit. Cannot find it to fish it out. Are these available separately anywhere? Or am I stuck going to the junkyard to harvest a replacement? (Would it have killed Volvo to make the tank hole another 1/2" larger?)

Or anyone have ideas on how to find the little bugger in the tank? Tank is about 3/4 full, so the ball is floating high wherever its hiding.

Am through with this project for the day. Cannot take any more frustration or gas fumes.
