Hood Blanket?? 200 1990

My 945 and both previous 745s have featured noise and heat dampening hood blankets. My 1990 240 has a number of holes around the edges of the hood that seem to be for some sort of blanket. However, my recent trips to the junkyards to check the 240s suggests that 240s never had hood blankets.

Is this true? The open hood just doesn't look quite right - and the engine compartment is pretty noisy.

On my 1967 and 1967 122 Amazons, I installed some foil-reflective bubble-wrap insulation from Lowe's with some heavy-duty 3M adhesive. They have held up very well for the last year with no sign of imminent failure. I know this stuff has been recommended for the roof of the volvo wagons (240 and 220) and I'm thinking about installing some in the hood of this 245. However, if there is a stock hood blanket (or one from a 740/940 would work) I'd rather go that route.

IPD sells a kit - but it is only for the early model 240s.

What do you guys do to get the best quiet engine compartment ride from your 240s?
