I'm fighting with what may be a flaky 4'th gear switch, and am trying to get my head around a few things.

I had a quick peek under the car today, but can't really tell much about the mechanical setup. (My car is an '89 245, now running an M46 - it has an orange relay, so am guessing the donor was an '85 or '86.).
1) Assuming the ipd picture is correct, then this switch threads into the side of the trani (or is it a separate bracket ?) and the nylon looking plunger is actuated by the stick shift when in 4'th - Correct ?
2) While I'd be happier with a better mechanical picture in my mind, what is bothering me more is that I can't picture the wire connection to the switch shown on the ipd site - how does the switched ground wire (red in my case) from the relay socket physically attach to this switch ? (IE. forked compression terminal, etc.).
