Rear Seat back wont fold down 200

I just traded my 80 242 for an 87 245. I loved my coupe but it didn't really work for hauling dogs and camping gear around so here i am with the same car my mom had when i was a kid. Any way, i had to go pic up some stuff for work and tried to fold the rear seat down and the seat bottom came up the way it was supposed to but nothing happens when i pull the lever for the back is there any way to get to the latch without tearing the whole seat apart.
