Blower Motor Resistor Question 200

I'm in the the middle of a blower motor/resistor/switch replacement job.
While installing the new resistor, I got a little carried away pulling the wires through the blower housing and damaged the resistor. It's damaged at the end of the resistor where the black wire connects to a metal band that wraps around the resistor. It appears a solder joint broke that holds the two ends of the band together Also, some the the green coating has flaked away. Should I attempt to fix by resoldering and/or mechanically crimping some metal to hold things together? Or, considering all the work involved in replacing the blower motor/resistor, is the safest bet to simply spend another 20 bucks and buy another resistor?
