Poor starting 200 1993

My car will at times be hard to start. Starter cranks just fine, it just doesn't want to start. If I press the gass peddal a bit, it will start.
Why is this? If I had a carburator with choke, I could understand, but fuel injected engine?!
By the way, my 1992 940 behaves the same way. Pressing the gass pedal makes it start...
