Coupe rear floor section - flat vs pressed 120-130

Hi guys - about ready to suck it up and buy replacement panels since finding original ones hasn't panned out yet. My '68 122s has rear floor section with an indentation, or recessed/lowered, section. I believe this is what the "pressed" replacement panels are referring to.

The pressed panels are more than twice the cost of the flat section, and I'm wondering if it is possible to modify/trim the flat section to work on my recessed original pressing. Probably not, but I figured it is worth asking.

Thanks!
