240 tail light question 200

Hello,
On the IPD website they have six panel tail lights,
one is listed for years 79-84, one is for years 85-93,
and then they have one for years 81-93. How is it that
this one overlaps?
What is the difference since they are all 6 panel?

Any idea why earlier models pre-86 had either five or six panels?

I am looking at a used tail light on ebay, six panel but
want it for a 1990.
