Today when I was on my way to IPD, to find out about the earlier issue I had (vibrating in 3rd, etc...see earlier post).
I found out that I couldn't get my car into reverse, to get out of driveway. It's slanted, and the hill right off of the driveway is facing up.
It felt more like my car was in reverse, but I was riding the clutch. But I wasn't as my foot was completely off the clutch. The car would rev, and barely move backwards. So I would get back in first and drive up the driveway (it's kind of steep) no problem.
So I know to check the cable play, at the pedal and under the car. I first checked the one at the pedal. But thats where I'm confused. For that measurement, do you pull the pedal up from it's normal resting spot, and it needs ot fit within the particular specs?
If that is how you check the pedal play, it should be (according to bentley) 3/8 to 9/16th of an inch. And I had more than an inch of play in the pedal.
It seems to me that this play would allow for the clutch to not fully engage when I want it to, but why would it only be effecting R?
Could this also be the cause of the vibrating issues I have when I go into 3rd and coast?
If it's the clutch, I'll be replacing that as I found out it'd be more than I paid for the car (and more than I can afford right now). So I hope it's just the clutch cable needing to be replaced.
