Hello everyone,
I'm gearing up for the timing belt change on our V90. Looking around the site, I found great advice in the FAQ and other places. It looks simple compared to my BMW 325, you have to remove a ton of stuff the access the belt, takes all day. The car is near 140,000 miles, so I'll probably get the big OEM kit from FCP Groton, gonna do it all.
Anyway, I see some folks change the cam seals and crankshaft seals while they are in there. Is this something worth doing as a preventive measure? Or should I wait until they start leaking. To my knowledge, they are fine. I guess I should try to get a look. It doesn't look too hard to get back in there if they start leaking bad. I searched but didn't find anything for how to replace these seals. Any tips?
The other thing I wonder about is the water pump. No leaks, cools fine, no noises. That thing is about $100. Do I really need to change it out?
Yes, I'm being cheap. Every time I turn around something needs $100 or more. Don't want to be stupid.
Thanks in advance.
