small clock accessory gauge into desktop small clock

I didn't know where else to post this, but I'm interested in turning my small VDO/Volvo 52mm clock into an actual desktop clock. My knowledge of electronics is fairly limited. Does anyone know how with radioshack parts I could make it into a functioning clock for the home? If I put something together I'd love to share my results with the board - I plan on mounting it in a nice hardwood housing.
