I'm in the process of changing my timing belt on my 940T (120K mi.) and discovered that my crankshaft pulley was off TDC by a couple of degrees, but with all the timing marks on the pulley itself still lining up.
A parts dealer advised me that the rubber on the pulley was probably failing and I ordered an aftermarket replacement. The replacement is off by a couple of degrees as well, so the problem doesn't appear to have been the original pulley.
Is this something I should be concerned about or should I just put it back together the way it was before?
The aftermarket pulley was made in India for a company called MTC, and I'm a little concerned about the quality. Anybody had experience with MTC parts? I'm tempted to send it back, but I don't want to do this job again in 6 months because I reinstalled a failing pulley.
Thanks.
