1994 944T 78K
I bought this car in June and the central locking did not work at that time.
The fuse (#2 25amp) is good and the other devices on the circuit work (hazard warning lights, and headlight flashing). I replace the relay in the tray because it was bad when tested in our other 1994 944T. So I am currently working with a good relay.
I have the wiring diagram, but I am electrically challenged and the diagram is more of a puzzle to me than a guide. I would be more than happy to email the page as a PDF document to anyone who would like it.
I have the driver’s door opened up and the mechanism hanging free so I have good access to it.
I get a humming sound that lasts for about a second when I push the plunger down which would be the action if I were in the car with the door closed and I pushed the lock down. During that one second the plunger holds itself in place (electrically, as in a solenoid action) and the other three doors as well as the trunk make a single loud click. The click is not accompanied by any movement of the door (or trunk) locks. Pulling up on the plunger has no effect on the other doors or trunk and produces no reaction whatsoever.
If you have a wiring diagram I can tell you the following:
1.grounding the yellow/black wire causes the plunger to be pulled down and hum its tune for the second that it does if I manually push the plunger down.
2.While the humming goes on for the one second interval I have 12v on the blue/red wire.
3.If I disconnect the red/white wire and the blue/red wire I measure 3 ohms across those wires. In a post found in a search of the forum David Stevens suggested that would indicate the motor windings were not open (ie good motor perhaps?)
4.The meter indicated .23 ohms between the brown/black wire and ground.
5.There is no continuity between the yellow/black wire and ground.
I read in a post that it is possible for all of the actuators to be bad so I thought I would just remove one from one of my parts cars and try it but a quick check showed it to be a different set up (but perhaps electrically the system is similar so wiring in the older (87 744) actuator would give me additional information?
Happy Halloween and thanks for any help you might be able to offer. I can send you the wiring diagram….
