Sudden Death 200 1991

My son drives a '91 240 wagon I bought new. It's become a project car for us.

Lately he says the engine will suddenly die but will re-start after he has brought the car to s atop and is able to do so.

I've asked him to check for lose wires (he's away at college). What else could be the cause of a sudden stall with engine warmed up, and no problem re-starting?

Position sensor? A relay?

Thanks for any advice.
