3 questions can anyne answer for me please 700 1986

hey all,

got 3 questions about my 1986 volvo 740.

first things first my temp. gauge and oil pressure light will flicker with temp gauge fluctuating rapidly in the cold and now also it just remains cold. it only does this when the vehicle is warmed up an driven awhile and seems to be affcted by engine rpm but on the other hand it could not do it at all. battery was replaced bc old one developed a bad cell. now i have a cut off to prevent any damage to the new batt. i dont know if its the main harness or something else i can try? please help me with this one as im completely stumped.

second question: if the main harness(with injectors, charging and tps etc.) needs to be replaced i have a replacement from a 1988 TURBO mine is a 1986 NON TURBO what is the exact diffrence and what do i need to mod. or jumper to get it to work? far as i can see the only diffrence is the resistor pack connector-maybee i can jumper the terminals or just let it hang? swap injectors with the blue tops from th same 1988?

third question s about the internal volt. reg. can i use one from a 1979 bmw 320i if needed? there appears to be no physical diffrence in mounting connections etc. except the reg. is a square aluminum instead of the transistor. i pulled this one from a world class rebuilt alt. and i know that bosch uses the diodes to determine amperage voltage is all the same usually but any issues with this?

if anyone can answer all these questions itd be greatly appreciated
geoff
