OD fixed...OD still a problem...? 85 245 200 1985

What seems like ages ago, I had an issue with my OD and reverse.

Long story short through great help, it was decided my issue was my solenoid o rings needing to be replaced. so I replaced them, re-filled the tranny, replaced the trany mount, and put everything back together. And now reverse now works fine and dandy (as of before this current issue).

But now, here's the new problem and scenario:

When driving about 45-50 mph, my rpm's are about 2000-2100 (assuming my gauge is accurate). Being that I havent driven my car for almost a month now, I don't remember if that's normal.

When I engage OD, the rpm's don't drop. When I take my foot off the gas, and then push the pedal again, the engine RPM's increase (by about 200) and the car doesn't accelerate. Its like it's slipping.

Turn off OD, and the RPM's don't change but the slipping/hesitation that comes with giving the car more gas, stops. I have no issues with hesitation, or RPM issues.

My theory is that my OD is going where all good OD's go when they start to die. Am I wrongly assuming things here?

Could it be the clutch cable needing to be re-adjusted?
