Would anyone care to elaborate on a sub topic of a recent post? It spoke of using a zinc strip as an way of concentrating rust in one location? My cousin a chemist who, had at one time, specialized in metal corrosion science suggested years ago that a zinc strip of some sort, mounted to the body of a car, would somehow attract the bad molecules and save a car from rusting out. I didn't really believe that, but here it is again so maybe it's just a folk tale that won't die or Franky was right.
How does this work, what actually happens? What is required to make it work? Where does one find the zinc? How much would I need? ounces? pounds? What kind of surface contact would it require? Why doesn't everyone have one already?
I hate rust as anyone who loves their cars would, so I'd like to find a way to beat it.
