Muffler maintenence 200

Anyone drill a hole in the bottom of either end of muffler to allow water escape thus eliminating premature rust-through? Wouldn't this allow for faster water dispersal from the inside to the outside? And extend the life of the muffler? Eventually may give a racing exhaust note?

It seems that wherever rust-through occurs, it's at the inlet or exit, where water collects.
