During my usual perusing of craigslist for Volvos that need a home or parts I need, I came across this:

As someone who has only had 100k+ 244s and 245s, I am tempted. I decided to post here first to get some discussion from you who know much more than I. I have bought 4 240s and 3 850s over the past 4 or 5 years, but the oldest was an 87. So I don't know about the 240s of this vintage.

How much work should I expect to foresee with old rubber, etc.? Is this a good year? I haven't made a call yet, so have no other info than what is in the ad. Would this make a nice Christmas present for my wife, or am I asking for lots of potential trouble with this? Please weigh in with opinions.
