IPD cam? 900 1993

My new 93 944 has an IPD crest on the trunk - previous owner says it has IPD sway bars that predate his ownership - they look a lot thicker than the ones on my 240 and the car corners very well. I have been diligently working to smooth out the idle and rough running at about 2200 rpms with limited sucess. Yesterday I mashed the pedal to pass and the car took off very unlike my 93 240. Would an IPD cam explain a few things? Can I check for it through the oil filler cap?
